Square Dance

Square dancing, there are two types. The traditional square dance and the so-called modern "Western Square Dance". They differ in design and in music. In traditional dance outweighs the country dance music. In the modern square dance music is a mix of pop, pop, country music and Broadway musicals. This traditional folk dance based on folk dances from various countries. The dance is danced all over the world. There will be an announcement of a caller, which figure must be danced. The announcer can also make this in singing or in spoken form.

The language here is English and standardized world. Thus, dancers from Spain, dance around any time without difficulty with German dancers together. The figures of the dance programs around the world equal. Ten dance programs are at the Square Dance available, are each set up. When dancing the dance programs will be announced in advance and set. A special dance attire is absolutely necessary.

The necessary steps and figures can be learned by anyone. A course to learn this dance usually lasts nine months. After the Second World War, this dance came to Germany. Today, the traditional square dancing is danced in Europe only rarely. The modern version of this dance is still, however, especially in Denmark, Sweden, England, Germany and the Czech Republic very popular. Outside of Europe, the modern dance version in Australia and Japan is danced. A combination of ballroom dancing and square dancing is the Round Dance. Here, couples dance to great circle paths to the music of waltz or rumba rhythms.
